CETAAD celebrated Onam on 13th October 2019 as a cultural rich and fun- filled, full day event.
Traditional Kuthuvilakku was lighted by Mr Sarat Chandran (president CETAAD), Dr V P Joy IAS ( Former president CETAAD) and other senior members of CETAAD.
The first event was felicitation of Ms. Gayathri (d/o Murali Nair, CET 1988) who won the Logo Design Competition conducted among members and families of CETAAD. Thereafter Ms. Gayathri mesmerized the audience with a stunning Classical Dance recital with text book perfection.
The programme, then migrated from auditorium to the openness to usher in the true spirit of Onam.
Emperor ‘Mahabali’, popularly mentioned as ‘Maveli’, made a grand appearance at the venue and was reverently received by members. Maveli addressed his ‘subjects’ and emphasized that the message of Onam was of oneness, love and be loved.
Vada and tea was served as refreshments to boost the crowd for the upcoming events. The charged male members then presented ‘Vanchipattu’ led by Mr.Parameshwaran , a musical recital associated with boat race. Ladies also proved second to none, with their electrifying ‘Thiruvathirakkali’, a folk dance form. Party games followed which kept the spirit of gathering to brim.
Mr Sreeji Gopinath, who is being relocated to Mumbai was then felicitated. Sreeji maintained the day’s activity with precision as he compered the event too.
After medley of old Malayalam melodies, participated by all members, it was time for the major attraction –The Traditional Sumptuous Onam Sadya. One would note that, Members got enough time to catch up with each other. In addition to this Other items on the list were ‘Uriyadi’ and ‘Vadamvali’.
Rema m'aam, the senior most member present that day, shared some words of wisdom. Mr K P Abraham (Founding President, CETAAD) proposed the Vote of Thanks.
The members who were given a ceremonial welcome in the morning with flower and tilak left after the celebrations, their heart and stomach contented, looking forward for another memorable get together in the immediate future.
The function was arranged in The Doon Public School, Pachim Vihar, Delhi.
