The 80th year anniversary event of College of Engineering, Trivandrum was held on October 29, 2019 at 4 PM at the College of Engineering, Trivandrum. The event was officially inaugurated by our Hon’ Chief Minister, Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan, through the auspicious lighting of the lamp ceremony. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. K P Indiradevi, Director of Technical Education. Sri. K.T Jaleel, Minister for Higher Education, Welfare of Minorities delivered the presidential address at the event held today. A quick dive into the marvellous past of CET and it’s service in the last 80 years was given by Dr. Jiji C V, the respected Principal of CET.
As a part of the 80th year celebrations, a new initiative known as ‘Project Haritham’ was inaugurated by Sri. Kadakkampally Surendran, Minister for Co-operation, Tourism and Devasoms. Project Haritham is a green initiative undertaken by the current students of CET in planting seeds and saplings.
The keynote address was to be delivered by Sri. Shashi Tharoor, MP of Thiruvananthapuram, who unfortunately could not attend today’s ceremony. Other esteemed guests at the event were Sri. Alathara Anilkumar, Councillor, Cheruvaikal, Sri. K T Balabhaskar, Vice President of the PTA, College of Engineering, Sri. K P Krishnakumar, Vice President, CETAA. The valuable support of Anjuradh T.R, Chairperson of the CET Student Union deserves a special mention.
To share the token of gratitude, Dr. Ashok Kumar V, Secretary of the Celebration Committee was called upon. The event today unfortunately missed the presence of Sri V K Prashant, Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram and Dr. Usha Titus IAS, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department.
Marking the beginning of CET’s glorious 80 years, the anniversary celebration held today was a grand success.
